Understanding Your MPAN and MPRN

An MPAN identifies an electricity supply point and an MPRN identifies a gas supply point.
These references help suppliers and energy professionals identify the correct meter and premises when reviewing or changing a commercial energy arrangement.
MPAN
The Meter Point Administration Number relates to electricity. It is normally shown on the electricity bill and is linked to the supply point rather than the customer name.
MPRN
The Meter Point Reference Number performs a similar role for gas and is usually shown on the gas bill.
For multi-site businesses, keeping an accurate register of MPANs and MPRNs alongside addresses, suppliers and contract end dates can make procurement and account management considerably easier.
