Could your manufacturing site be missing electricity-cost relief?
The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme may reduce certain electricity policy costs for qualifying manufacturing sites. We'll help you see whether your site looks worth investigating — and review your current electricity contract at the same time.

Relief from certain electricity policy costs — not a cash grant
For qualifying manufacturing sites, the scheme removes the indirect costs of the Renewables Obligation, Feed-in Tariffs and the Capacity Market from electricity bills.
It is assessed site by site. Relief is expected from April 2027, with Capacity Market relief expected later. The government has estimated the support at around £35–£40 per MWh for eligible consumption.
Applications open on 1 October 2026 and close at 11:59pm on 30 November 2026. There is one round a year and applications cannot be amended once submitted.

Could your site be a potential candidate?
- ✓Registered at Companies House
- ✓Operates in an eligible manufacturing sector (SIC code) and makes eligible products
- ✓Manufacturing site in Great Britain
- ✓The site uses at least 33 MWh (33,000 kWh) of grid electricity a year
Meeting these does not guarantee eligibility. Only grid-supplied electricity counts, and mixed-use sites may receive partial relief based on the share of electricity used for eligible manufacturing.
What could relief be worth?
100,000 kWh a year
£3,500 – £4,000
500,000 kWh a year
£17,500 – £20,000
1,000,000 kWh a year
£35,000 – £40,000
Based on the government's estimate of around £35–£40 per MWh, assuming all consumption is eligible. These figures are illustrative only and are not guaranteed. Actual relief depends on eligibility, the share of electricity used for eligible manufacturing and final scheme rules.
